Students from the H-Bridges team at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, achieved another significant result at the IEEE International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) 2026 – 4th place and the award for Best Technical Report, competing against 30 teams from around the world.

The finals took place from July 13 to 19 in Belgium, at the EnergyVille research center of KU Leuven. H-Bridges represented Serbia among teams from the USA, Germany, Poland, India, and South Korea.

This year’s competition focused on the development of a bidirectional on-board charger for electric vehicles. Over the course of three days, teams tested their prototypes in the laboratory through a series of functional and performance tests, followed by presentations of their results to an international panel of expert judges.

Behind this achievement are almost a year of work by students across hardware and PCB design, firmware and control, as well as fundraising and public relations. Throughout the development process, the team went through multiple stages – from the initial concept and first prototype, through redesign and system optimization, to final laboratory testing and preparations for the finals.

This result is another recognition of the quality of work carried out by students at the School of Electrical Engineering and their ability to compete alongside leading universities from around the world in the field of power electronics.

With this year’s cycle coming to an end, H-Bridges closes another successful season. A new cycle begins in September, bringing new challenges, ideas, and opportunities to develop advanced engineering solutions.
